Hi, I’m Paula - the hands behind rubber glove ceramics!

I have a Glasgow pottery studio and I currently selling work online, in gallery shops, by commission, and at markets.

At rubber glove, I pair traditional throwing methods with bold pronounced forms and considered sustainable studio practices to create ceramics which are tactile and invite curiosity. Working in stoneware and drawing on inspirations from the natural world, Scottish landscapes and found rocks, I create functional vessels that present contemporarily whilst still embodying an undeniable timelessness and organic energy. I hope to create everyday items which can be both long-lasting functional favourites and bring a little joy to the user's every day, whilst addressing the sustainability concerns of the ceramics industry.

To reflect my passion for the natural world and environmentally-conscious design, I am constantly working to learn and develop more sustainable ceramic practices and approaches to re-purposing studio waste. It is a long and slow process, but every step feels like an exciting and important one!

Through my collections, the rubber glove studio intends to create meaningful works which instigate curiosity and facilitate increased awareness on possible approaches to a closed loop ceramics studio.

Alongside rubber glove, I facilitate arts and ceramics workshops, including regular classes at Govanhill Baths and Wild Gorse Pottery. Previous workshops have been conducted for initiatives including Art Space G41, BAAT Region 15, and This Must Be The Place. I also work as a studio technician at Wild Gorse Pottery.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my work!

Keep up to date with the studio
